Is Tai chi the ultimate exercise?
Exercising is very important for the well being of the human body. many techniques of exercising have been developed and are being practiced from very early periods of time. Some exercises such as the yoga have been a part of the culture and developed long time back. Today there are so many techniques that one tends to get confused which one to practice and which one not to. Tai chi has been developed by the Chinese and is a form of martial arts. Tai chi unlike many other exercises works on the complete body and not on any particular muscle or body part.
It provides a means of toning the body without actually creating stress on the body. Tai chi may be considered as the best exercise simply because of the advantages it has over other exercises and and the benefits it offers. The scientific research confirmed that tai chi stimulates the central nervous system, happens to be a stress reliever, lowers blood pressure, enhances digestion , provides rhythmic movement to the internal organs which leads to better functionality of the organs. Tai chi when compared to yoga offers many advantages and a few disadvantages also.
The postures of yoga need to be continuously held for 3 to 4 minutes which sometimes can be very difficult to do and hence rest periods become a mandatory . in tai chi on the other hand the postures need to be held for much shorter periods and hence there happens to be no requirement of rest periods. Yoga cannot be performed by every one as some health problems do not allow the practice of yoga. Apart from these advantages of the tai chi one major advantage is the fact that tai chi can be used for self defence .In today’s world life is so fast and lack to time happens to be a major set back for people to practice these kind of exercises. Tai chi not only provides with good health but also makes its student learn the art of self defence,which is very important in todays world.
